Valencia CF won their first match of the season against Getafe CF thanks to an own goal by Juanpe. The match was played at the Mestalla Stadium on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Juanpe scored the own goal in the 35th minute of the match. Yunus Musah picked out Samu Castillejo, who lifted the ball over the Getafe defence and Juanpe stuck out a leg to clear but could only divert the ball into his own net.
