Highway 1 Upgrades: Government Announces Funding and Construction Progress
Major Infrastructure Improvements underway
The Government has announced a significant investment in Highway 1, which includes upgrades to the Mount Lehman Interchange and the widening of 37 km of the highway. The funding, totaling 265 billion, will address the increasing traffic volume and improve safety and connectivity along this vital corridor.
Phase 3B of the Highway 1 Project
Phase 3B of the Highway 1 project, announced by Premier David Eby, will focus on improvements entirely within Langley. This phase is expected to significantly enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion in the area.
Construction Progress
Construction on a 10-km-long segment of the freeway, spanning a cost of 345 million, commenced in late 2021. Additionally, overnight lane closures for Highway 1 improvements are scheduled for June 24th, 2024.
