Reigning MLS Cup Champions Advance With Dominant Performance

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Inter Miami CF put on a dominant performance at home on Wednesday night, dismantling Charlotte FC 4-0 in the 2023 Leagues Cup Quarterfinals. The victory propels Inter Miami into the semifinals of the tournament, where they will face either Club América or Seattle Sounders FC.

Inter Miami took control of the match from the opening whistle and never looked back. Gonzalo Higuaín opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a close-range finish, and Leonardo Campana doubled the lead just before halftime with a header.

The second half was all Inter Miami as well. Bryce Duke made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute with a well-struck shot from outside the box, and Lionel Messi put the icing on the cake with a late goal in the 86th minute.

The win was Inter Miami's first in the Leagues Cup since 2021, when they reached the semifinals of the tournament. The reigning MLS Cup champions will now look to continue their run to the final when they face either Club América or Seattle Sounders FC in the semifinals.
