Aston Villa Changes Shirt Sponsorship Due to Dutch Advertising Regulations
New Jersey to Debut in Pre-Season Friendly
Deal with BK8 Temporarily Suspended
Aston Villa FC has announced a change in shirt sponsorship for their upcoming pre-season friendly against AFC Ajax. The club's regular sponsor, BK8, will not appear on the team's jerseys during the match due to Dutch advertising regulations.
BK8, an online betting company, currently holds the front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Aston Villa. However, Dutch law prohibits the promotion of gambling companies on sports jerseys. As a result, the club has opted to remove the BK8 logo from their shirts for the Ajax match.
Aston Villa's new shirt sponsor for the 2023/24 season is Adidas. The German sportswear manufacturer will replace Nike as the club's kit supplier from next season.
The club has stressed that its partnership with BK8 remains unaffected by this temporary suspension. Aston Villa is committed to working with BK8 in compliance with relevant regulations.
